[edit] Information

Alison Steadman’s Shetland The actress, a keen birdwatcher and patron of the RSPB, embarks on a wildlife adventure in Shetland, observing some of the Scottish archipelago's most extraordinary inhabitants, including puffins that return there each spring to breed. She takes a coastal trek around the island of Unst in search of otters, forages for razor clams and sea urchins on the beaches of Dury Voe and visits Hermaness, where an ecologist records the sound emitted by the 33,000 gannets nesting on the cliffs. The biologically and geologically diverse archipelago of Shetland spans across more than 100 islands. Viewers will see Alison trekking through parts of the dramatic landscape in her search for rare wildlife and even sea kayaking around the coast to get closer to the birds and sea creatures there.
