[edit] Information

Heathrow: Britain’s Busiest Airport – Series 2 Documentary series that goes behind the scenes at Britain's biggest and busiest international airport, Heathrow is like a mini-city, with its own police force, ambulance service, religious leaders and social workers. From the cleaners and security staff, to air traffic control and the CEO, this series examines the human side of life at one of the world’s most famous airports.

[edit] Episode 1

The documentary that explores life behind the scenes at the UK’s biggest and busiest airport returns for a second series – at an unfortunate time. The first episode sees the airport plunged into crisis as heavy fog descends. New terminal manager Callum is faced with hundreds of angry passengers stuck overnight at the airport. On the tarmac, visibility has dropped to less than 100 metres and safety officer Chris is forced into marshalling duties. Meanwhile, manager Nilam reveals the secrets of one of Heathrow’s most exclusive lounges. At the departure gate, dispatcher James and his team hunt for late passengers for a flight to Pakistan.

[edit] Episode 2

Thousands of passengers are flying to the US for Thanksgiving as the second series going behind the scenes at the UK’s biggest airport continues. Engineers give an aircraft the world’s most expensive nose-job before it crosses the pond. Meanwhile, check-in assistant Lacey faces the daunting and time-consuming challenge of ensuring that every kilo of excess baggage is weighed and paid for by passengers on a full flight to Bangladesh. Security staff race to screen every passenger and bag before they are allowed to board the plane. Out on the tarmac, aircraft handler Anasthasia leads an army of staff as they try to get a flight away on time.

[edit] Episode 3

Chaos threatens as the documentary series filmed over seven months, going behind the scenes at the UK’s biggest and busiest airport, concludes. Storm Imogen causes mayhem, both on the runways and in the terminals. Amid gale force winds, airside safety officer Simon keeps his eyes peeled for any potentially dangerous debris. In Terminal 4, manager Sunita looks after dozens of passengers whose flight to Delhi has been cancelled. Trainee engineer Elliot prepares to clear a blocked sewage pit. There are emotional reunions in arrivals and staff from the Animal Reception Centre welcome an exotic shipment of feathered friends from Canada.
