[edit] Information

Cruise Ship Disaster: Inside the Concordia Discovery examines the events leading up to the Coast Concordia running aground; the reaction of passengers to the crash; and the behaviour of the crew to the disaster as it unfolded. On the evening of the 13th of January all seemed well as Captain Francesco Schettino steered a course towards the Italian island of Giglio – a course that the ship had sailed before. However, on this occasion the course deviated: coming much closer to the coast than on previous occasions. What happened next is well documented – including Schettino’s abandoning of the ship and the coastguard’s orders to return. What is less understood are his reasons? In Cruise Ship Disaster: Inside the Concordia we try to piece together the whole story and get to the bottom of why 32 people lost their lives.
