[edit] Information

When Winston Churchill was First Sea Lord he thought that the deadlock on the Western Front in World War I could be broken by an attack on Turkey. What followed was the worst planned operation of World War I and the Anzac losses were immortalised in the Mel Gibson movie ‘Gallipoli’.

The program on Gallipoli is an American perspective on this famous ‘blunder’ of World War 1. The Anzacs are mentioned in a context which probably correctly reflects their involvement in the campaign. The program provides details of the war as a context for this campaign and as such would be a useful overview or revision of World War 1. It would also be an enlightening contrast for students of the ANZAC role in World War 1.
