The island of Java in Indonesia lies above four tectonic plates: the Eurasian, Pacific, Australian, and Philippine Sea plates. This mighty convergence gives rise to one of the most volcanically active places on earth. When the volcanic island of Krakatau last erupted in the late 19th century, it sent shockwaves seven and a half times around the earth. Marvel at glorious footage close to the mouth of this mighty volcano and witness Ijen volcano emit an unearthly blue flame in the dark night as its magma rises close to the earth's surface.
