[edit] Information

Last Roar of the Tiger is a documentary thriller directed by Sasha Snow, about the struggle for survival between people and tigers in the Russian Far East.

The film is told from the point of view of Yuri Trush, a professional tiger hunter paid by the authorities to track down and eliminate tigers showing 'abnormal' behaviour. It takes Yuri's most notorious pursuit of a double 'man-eating' tiger as the basis for its dramatic narrative, using actuality footage that he filmed as the events unfolded.

From the characters and issues that evolve naturally from this story, the film weaves a wider documentary exploration of the conflicting human interests that now bear down on the tiger's future.

By setting the animal's precarious situation against the pressing needs of human survival, the film provides a challenging alternative to the cosy illusions of the traditional 'big cat' natural history.
