[edit] Information

Alyeska - The Big Country is the old native name for the endless polar region in the northwest of the american continent. The darkness of a polar night creates an icy and threatening wilderness for months. In summer under the mild light of the midnight sun the tundra offers plenty amounts of food. To survive in these extremes and to use the the ressources provided you have to be very mobile. Almost all big animals of the north travel vast distances each year.
The wildlive cinematographer Andreas Kieling succeeded in picture the surviving strategies of these arctic wanderers in an astonishing way. For that he had to become a nomad himself and followed his main actors through the great sceneries.
With passion and intuition he earned the trust of the wild animals to create those unique close-up images of Grizzleys, polar bears, elks, cariboo and musk oxen.
