In the first of three programmes, he travels to Gansbaai in South Africa to wait underwater in a cage to catch a glimpse of a great white shark up-close. After an early start, Phillip Schofield and his wife make their way into the heart of a game reserve and Steph is reduced to tears as she sees a giraffe up close for the first time. Later, the presenter is invited to take part in a conservation project to protect the rhino population. Rhinos are on the endangered list as they are being poached faster than they can breed, so tagging is a vital element in the constant war against the poachers. After a dart is shot from his helicopter, Phillip steps out and attaches the tagging device to the animal.
