Described as "the greatest woman rifle shot the world has ever produced," Annie Oakley thrilled audiences of Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show with her daring shooting feats. Over time she became an American legend. But that legend had little to do with the real Annie Oakley. This probing AMERICAN EXPERIENCE production examines the dramatic life of a uniquely American icon whose complex character manifested many of the paradoxes of the nation.

Documentary celebrating the 200th anniversary of Pride and Prejudice, revealing the hidden world behind one of the greatest love stories of all time by restaging a regency ball at Chawton House, the grand estate of Jane Austen's brother. Amanda Vickery and Alastair Sooke lead a team of world class experts as they reconstruct the ball in loving detail, from music and dancing, to food and fashion.

Jane Austen loved to dance and balls were hugely popular in early 19th century England. Crucially, a ball is also where Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy meet and begin their courtship. However very little is known about what they were actually like. What sort of music would they have danced to? How difficult were the steps? What were the clothes like to wear? And what did the food taste like?

This film uses music from the Austen family archives, as well as dances and dishes mentioned in her novels and letters to recreate the experience of attending an early 19th century country ball - the sort of event that Austen had in mind when she wrote some of the most famous and powerful scenes in English literature.
In this first episode Peter Snow traces the history of the UK's experimental tilting trains of the 1970s and 80s. The Advanced Passenger Trains were intended to rival France's TGV and Japan's bullet train, but negative press and complaints about motion sickness helped scupper the project before it could get going, also in this episode the Lotus 25, an early 1960s racing car with a &#8220;revolutionary design that changed the world of Formula One forever <br />
The story of the race between two companies&#8217;s to be the first to launch a mobile phone service in Great Britain The tiny company Racal &#8211; which became Vodafone - which challenged BT in the 1980s to create Britain's first mobile phone network; and Snow traces the development of Britain's £1.4 billion computer-game industry, which owes its success to the pioneering work of Cambridge undergrads David Braben and Ian Bell. Against all odds, their computer game Elite became a hit in the mid-1980s.

[[Image: Brits-Who-Made-the-Modern-World-chaptershot2.jpg|right|thumb]]
Peter Snow meets the two designers of the Harrier Jump Jet also he tells the story of the inventors of the little known &#732;Black Arrow, a satellite launching rocket. Back in the heady days of the mid 20th century, there was a growing feeling among British astrophysicists that they had as good a shot at space exploration as America or the USSR did, provided they could secure the funding. The usual Whitehall wrangle ensued, and a relatively small amount of money (£9m) was set aside for the so-called Black Arrow project, which would aim to build a cleverly powered launch device for satellites.

A tomb of 49,000 year-old Neanderthal bones discovered in El Sidron, a remote, mountainous region of Northern Spain, leads to a compelling investigation to solve a double mystery: How did this group of Neanderthals die? And, could the fate of this group help explain Neanderthal extinction? Scientists examine the bones&#8212;buried over 65 feet below ground&#8212;and discover signs that tell a shocking story of how this group of six adults, three teenagers, two children and a baby may have met their death. Some bones have deep cuts, long bones are cracked and skulls crushed&#8212;distinct signs of cannibalism. Was it a result of ritual or hunger? Neanderthal experts are adamant that they were not bloodthirsty brutes. Will this investigation challenge their views? What happened here 49000 years ago will take us on a much bigger journey&#8212;from El Sidron to the other end of the Iberian Peninsula where scientists are excavating beneath the seas off Gibraltar in search of Neanderthal sites. Scientists working here had theories&#8212;but no proof&#8212;for why Neanderthals went extinct. El Sidron may change this.
As Education Secretary Michael Gove expresses his admiration for education systems in the Far East, Unreported World travels to Hong Kong to meet the students aiming for success in one of the most competitive exam environments in the world. Reporter Marcel Theroux and producer Lottie Gammon meet the millionaire Lamborghini-driving 'super tutor' who has made his fortune from parents desperate to get their kids into university. Richard Eng has made his fortune coaching school students to get through the final year Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE). The team films him in action at Beacon College - whose 40,000 students come from schools all over Hong Kong - where they've signed up for long evening classes on top of a full day at school. There's no coursework in Hong Kong; everyone's fate is decided by the exam. Three quarters of Hong Kong's students have extra tuition to prepare them for these final year exams. Richard's success is built on his perceived ability to give his students a competitive edge.
'''King Of Coke: Living The High Life'''
'''Discover how a young dentist secretly built a cocaine empire across America that produced millions of dollars&#8217; worth of revenue during the '80s.This is the true-crime story of the multimillion-dollar yuppie drug ring run by a then, twenty-six year old Larry Lavin and two of his classmates. In the high-flying 1980's, Larry Lavin was a clean-cut, Ivy-League-educated dentist living the good life in suburban Philadelphia. But, what his upper crust neighbours didn't know was that Lavin led a double life - one that would finally be exposed by a shocking narcotics investigation. Awash in sex, drugs and money, Lavin oversaw a cocaine conglomerate, buying and selling enough white powder to anesthetize thirteen Eastern seaboard states &#8230; until the FBI cracked the ring.
How was he able to create such a well-oiled network? And what brought about his untimely downfall?'''
