[edit] Information

The 100k House: Tricks of the Trade Series-2 New series. Architects Piers Taylor and Gurmeet Sian help two homeowners in need of life-changing transformations to their existing homes.

[edit] Jaimelee/Lee & Suzanne/Antonio

In Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands, they come to the aid of builder Lee, who added an extension to his suburban semi. However, two years later the ground floor is half built, and his partner Jaimelee and their three children are left living in a building site. Meanwhile, Suzanne, Antonio and toddler Sophia struggle with the awkward layout of their west London flat, giving Gurmeet the challenge of rethinking it.

[edit] Mark/Linda & Chris/Claire

In the East Riding of Yorkshire, Chris and Claire need a solution to a problem with privacy in their quirky former Post Office home. The floor-to-ceiling shop windows mean they are overlooked by passers-by, but Robert Jamison has a radical proposal. Mark and Linda live in a narrow house which is too dark and feels too small, so Piers Taylor reveals tricks that can transform it into a brighter home.

[edit] Lisa/Richard & Julie

Lisa and her son live in a former butcher shop in Derbyshire, and Piers Taylor faces a huge challenge when he tries to help transform it on a bugdet of just £8,000. There is no kitchen at all, and he must use cost saving methods to inject colour into the house. Meanwhile, in Shropshire, Julie and Richard have fallen out of love with their home, which is a mismatch of styles and eras. Meredith Bowles must find changes that will make the biggest difference, and takes inspiration from tricks used in a 1960s property.

[edit] Skye/Matt & Mary/Luke

Piers Taylor helps to transform a small three-bedroom house in West London for couple Skye and Matt, who have four children and a fifth on the way. He must find low cost ways to use every inch of their home, and comes up with a series of sleeping platforms that could utilise wasted space in the loft. Meanwhile, Adam Khan finds an ingenious way of a splitting an ordinary home into two for Mary and her adult son Luke, who cannot afford a place of his own as a consequence of rising house prices.

[edit] Cath/Rob & Karen/David

Piers Taylor helps a family build an extension on their ex-council house in Warwick, suggesting that they ditch their ambitious plan and try a simpler one. He designs clever storage, helps them find a low-cost solution for the floor, and creates a multi-coloured porch that would normally cost thousands. Meanwhile, Cheryl Pilliner-Reeves comes to the aid of Karen and David in Ipswich, who are desperate to fall in love with their Victorian terrace, which has a mix of levels and corridors. She must find a way to connect it all, and creates two bespoke staircases for just £600, as well as helping Karen get her dream kitchen.

[edit] Hardeep/Rupinder & Adam

Desperate to continue living in London, Adam bought one of the thinnest homes in the country. However, at six foot wide in places, the former alleyway was dark and barely habitable. Architect Katy Marks helps to transform his home with radical ideas, and Piers Taylor demonstrates how lighting, furniture and colours can make all the difference. Meanwhile, in Walsall, Hardeep and Rupinder have plenty of room for their family, but in all the wrong places. Piers Taylor designs them the ultimate social space, and encourages them to orientate their home around the garden.
