[edit] Information

The Cruise: Series 1 Life on board with the 1,400 crew who live and work for up to nine months a year on luxury cruise ship the Regal Princess.

[edit] Part 1

As an 11-day voyage from Copenhagen to St Petersburg gets under way, some of the guests are vying for the award of Most Travelled Passenger, while new dancer Dulcie is hoping to make the grade as part of the entertainment team

[edit] Part 2

Captain Ed Perrin has been given permission to sail his vessel all the way into Stockholm through its stunning archipelago. It's a terrifying task for the skipper, for if he gets it wrong he could cause untold damage to a nearby historic windmill or even run aground. Injury strikes the entertainment team, leaving dancer Dulcie paired with a new recruit who doesn't know the routines, and a safety helmet causes problems for excursions agent Timothy and his perfectly styled hair.

[edit] Part 3

It's turnaround day on the Regal Princess, when the crew has to help 3,300 passengers check out with 10,000 pieces of luggage and then welcome the new batch - with just a few hours to clean and prepare 1,800 rooms. As the staff members work against the clock, hotel manager Dirk makes his usual inspections - and will not tolerate any slip in standards. Meanwhile, dancer Dulcie is feeling homesick, and front-desk supervisor Herbert is under pressure to locate some missing luggage and have it delivered at the next port.

[edit] Part 4

The staff compete to win the coveted title of employee of the month, which carries a top prize of $500, as well as deck privileges, tours and extra time off. Deck hand Rhymond is among those with their eye on the top prize, having braved the elements since 5am to keep the ship looking pristine. Meanwhile, Timothy feels sad about leaving his friends on the front desk to start his new job with the shore excursions team, and engineer Scott is left in charge when his boss goes on leave, with jobs including making drinking water from the sea.

[edit] Part 5

Captain Perrin throws a huge party to celebrate the ship's first birthday, with executive chef Shaun creating a giant cake that is so heavy it takes 10 men to carry - and they soon come unstuck when they cannot fit the ship-shaped sponge into the lift. Passengers Norman and Maria are looking forward to attending the lavish formal party, although they will be going nowhere unless front-desk supervisor Herbert can locate their missing luggage, which contains his tuxedo and her party frock. Dancer Dulcie faces her staff appraisal, and a visit from her boyfriend helps with her homesickness.
