Published in 1918, Frederick Bligh Bonds The Gate of Remembrance detailed excavations at Glastonbury Abbey. Recorded in the book were automatic writing sessions which Bligh claimed to have been communicated by dead monks who had guided the excavations. Bonds employer, The Church of England, fired him and he faced reputational ruin. But was there any way that Bond could have located the buildings he found at the abbey without spirit help?
