Join Dr. Monty Dobson on the expedition to uncover America's archaeological history. The series follows Monty as he explores archaeological sites along America's ever shifting frontier and uses these sites as touch points to tell America's story. From the first peoples who arrived during the last Ice Age to the archaeology of the Industrial Age, America from the Ground Up is history like you've never seen it before. Chapter 1: The Ancestors Monty sets out to explore the ways that America's Native people used and altered the landscape. Includes the earliest mound builders in Louisiana and Texas; the massive Pueblo towns; and cities of New Mexico and Arizona. Chapter 2: New Spain The archaeological history of Spanish Colonial America. Includes the quest for mythical cities of gold to the Pueblo Revolt; the Spanish missions; and the presidios of Texas and the Southwest. Chapter 3: Worlds Collide A glimpse to the archaeological story of the fight for a continent. Chapter 4: Paradise Lost A glimpse to the origins of slavery on the Iberian Peninsula and its evolution in the New World. Includes a visit to the sugar plantations in Louisiana and Texas. Chapter 5: An Uncivil War The history of the Civil War in the trans-Mississippi West. Includes the border war between Missouri and Kansas; the battle at Wilson's Creek; and the role of Black troops in the Union Army. Chapter 6: Go West Stories of the diverse people who settled in the American West. Includes Black Spanish explorers and conquistadores; the Governor of Alta California and the Buffalo Soldiers.
