Young children used to say they wanted to be an actor, footballer or pop star when they grew up, but today many say that they want to be a YouTuber. This Our Lives documentary goes behind the scenes to reveal what it’s like to be an internet sensation. Jamie Genevieve is a 25-year-old Scot from the small town of Tillicoultry. She says struck it lucky to catch the vlogging wave early on, becoming one of the most-followed beauty bloggers in Britain with over a million followers on Instagram and 800,000 on YouTube. But her glamorous life is at odds with her goofy, girl-next-door personality. She reveals the methods and processes that are essential for being an online success, such as the massive volume of photos needed to find the perfect single image for Instagram, how to ‘keep it real’ when the camera is never off, and how to take the perfect selfie. The film culminates with a trip to Italy to check out the stunning Tuscan venue for the online wedding of the year as Jamie and boyfriend Jack tie the knot.
