[edit] Information

Facebook's mission is to create an open and more strongly connected world. But how open is Facebook itself? 'Facebookistan' takes a close look and tells the story of both the author Peter Ă˜vig Knudsen, who was subjected to Facebook's censorship, and of how PhD student Max Schrems' research led him into battle against Mark Zuckerberg's empire. Facebook wants you to reveal everything - but how much is Facebook willing to reveal to you? 1.4 billion people are on Facebook. We voluntarily share our otherwise private information with the social network, and we voluntarily give Facebook permission to use our information and make money on it, yet very little is known about the secretive business itself. How is the world's largest public space controlled and monitored? Why are pages and posts censored? And why does Facebook keep data, even after the user has deleted it? 'Like' it or not, here is a film that will make you think twice before leaving your next digital footprint on Facebook's eternal memory. Meet, among others, the author Peter Knudsen, whose book "Hippie" was too much for Facebook with its historical pictures of bare breasts and 1970's permissiveness. Facebook is the most visible symptom of an increasingly closed and centralised internet, but its also a social revolution with great democratic potential.
