Dame Penelope Keith is heading out armed with her beloved 'Batsford Guides' , she s uncovering more of our most charming rural villages and their unique characters and stories. Alongside beautiful scenery, Penelope explores the industry, art and literature that characterise each region, and seeks out the village traditions that continue to this day.

Penelope visits the honey-coloured perfection of Bibury and attends a classic village fete in Ebrington. She takes in the arts and crafts home of William Morris, and meets the writer Jilly Cooper.

Amidst lochs and mountains, Penelope finds her most extreme village locations yet. From Vikings in Tarbert, to Queen Victoria s holidays, this complex coastline is her chance to indulge a love of ferries.

Penelope travels through dales and flies over moors to the coast, in search of the famous Yorkshire spirit. On the way she finds sword dancing in Goathland, and the birthplace of aviation in Brompton-by-Sawdon.

Starting in refined Manorbier in the south, Penelope crosses the stunning Welsh peninsula. She explores the wild Preseli Hills, visits the country s best food market in St Dogmaels and finds Abereiddy home of international cliff diving.
