[edit] Information

Kolkata: with Sue Perkins Sue Perkins immerses herself in the complexities of life in the West Bengal state capital, formerly known as Calcutta, to detail how the city once known for its notorious `black hole' dungeon and impoverished street people has transformed into a diverse, 21st-century megacity with a booming property market and a reputation for tolerance. She meets some of Kolkata's 250,000 `street kids', who spend their time hustling for a living, and the wealthy young entrepreneurs who race their high-performance cars down the streets of New Town. She also navigates the city's narrow lanes with rickshaw wallahs, and descends into Kolkata's Victorian-era sewers as part of a large-scale clean-up project.
