[edit] Information

This heart-racing series takes you into the trauma ward of St Barnabas Hospital in the south Bronx, one of the busiest emergency units in New York. The action never stops as we follow a team of physicians from one life-threatening incident to the next. Each patient's case is diagnosed, procedures explained and computer graphics literally take us under the skin to see exactly what is going on inside the body. Also includes two action-packed real-life dramas.

[edit] Episode One

A man who fell four stories is in a critical condition after landing headfirst. A hit-and-run victim has a suspected broken neck and bleeding on the brain.

[edit] Episode Two

There are concerns of a brain haemorrhage after an intoxicated man is admitted after having been bashed in the face with a baseball bat. A mother and her 6-week old baby need urgent care after being involved in a car accident.

[edit] Episode Three

An old lady is drowning in her own liquid and her heart is failing. If she isn't treated quickly, she will die. There is great concern for a man with multiple gunshot wounds after bullets went through his chest.

[edit] Episode Four

After attacking his girlfriend and daughter, a man jumped through a fifth storey window fleeing the police. The man and his victims are admitted to the same ward. A Jehovah's witness is suffering a seizure after falling out of a moving car headfirst.

[edit] Episode Five

A chronic asthmatic needs agressive treatment to control his breathing. A man has severe wounds to his head after being attacked by a gang with rocks and knives.

[edit] Episode Six

The trauma unit goes on a high alert after a building collapses. Backup is desperately needed as crushed bodies are admitted after having been pulled from the rubble.

Extra 1 : Hospital - Face of Courage

A plastic surgeon at Duke University Medical Centre in North Carolina operates on a man whose face was crushed at work. After five years and sixteen operations, his injuries have never healed. The bones in his face are infected and, if unchecked, could eventually reach his brain and kill him. Surgeons rebuild the patient's face using a muscle from his back.
