The Red Imported Fire Ant is an alien invader, spreading like a plague through the south-eastern USA. Humankind seems helpless in the face of its advance, as it destroys crops, damages electrical and mechanical equipment, and terrorises animals and people with a painful, burning sting. But a fighting spirit prevails in the south and the people have declared war on the fire ant with weapons ranging from chemical to biological.
