[edit] Information

David Attenborough narrates a documentary revealing how the forces of nature drive, shape and support the Earth's great diversity of life.

[edit] Volcano

The first edition examines volcanoes, which responsible for both for the planet's breathable atmosphere and the oceans, but are also the architects of the planet, with over 80% of the Earth's surface being the result of magma bursting up from the molten interior - providing a platform for life.

[edit] The Sun

Examining the solar force that powers Earth - the Sun - and how plants and animals have adapted to the uneven amounts of sunlight given to different parts of the planet over the course of a year. The exception is on the equator, where the duration of day and night remain the same throughout the year. Here, this guaranteed sunlight drives the great diversity of life in the tropical jungles.

[edit] Weather

David Attenborough narrates a look at how the uneven distribution of freshwater around the globe has given rise to an incredible diversity of species and habits, from the driest desert to the lushest tropical rainforest. Featuring a colony of ants banding together into a raft every time its home in the Amazon floods, a rain frog that manages to eke out an existence in one of the world's driest habitats on Earth, and the last wild camels that survive the Gobi Desert's bitter winters by eating snow that blows in from Siberia.

[edit] Oceans

There are not five separate oceans, but one. Its waters linked by powerful forces that keep them on the move. This constant mixing is vital for the health of oceans and marine life.

[edit] Humans

Humans are changing our planet so rapidly, it’s affecting earth’s life support systems: our weather, our oceans and the living world.
