[edit] Information

Bugs! A Rainforest Adventure Bugs! A Rainforest Adventure is a 2007 Imax 3-D presentation, here reduced to the much more modest scale of DVD. The expensive and exacting show is a peek at the insect life in a Malaysian rain forest, featuring macro photography of exceedingly high quality. Explore the extraordinary hidden world of insects, where a leaf weighs more than a car, rain drops feel like exploding hand grenades and a blade of grass soars like a skyscraper. Shot on location in the Borneo rainforest, Bugs! brings the beautiful and dangerous universe of its tiny stars up close and personal with cutting-edge technology that magnifies them up to 250,000 times their normal size. Don't miss this unforgettable, stunning film that reveals the dramatic, savage and awe-inspiring lives of these fascinating creatures. Narrated by Judi Dench

[edit] The Making Of

The Filmmakers
Among the strong creative team assembled for the film are Director Mike Slee and co-writer Abby Aron, who together conceived the idea of turning what was an episodic piece into a story about the lives of two insects: a butterfly and a praying mantis who are born in the same part of the rainforest. "By following the life cycle of a praying mantis and a butterfly, one predator and one prey, the film is structured to provide dramatic tension while being educational," notes Phil Streather.
Jonathan Barker, Executive Producer adds "We've brought together a team of visual masters led by Peter Parks, a macro/micro specialist from Image Quest 3-D in the UK, who has won two OscarsĀ® for designing film equipment and who designed a brand new optical system for Bugs!. Parks worked in collaboration with Director of Photography Sean Phillips, widely considered the leading stereographer and 3D cinematographer in the industry."
