When filmmaker April Butler's 73-year-old father Dale began a romantic relationship with a 23-year-old woman from the Philippines, Butler didn't know what to make of it. "Father Figures" examines the difficult family dynamics that play out when Dale becomes engaged to Girlie and plans to bring her to his home in Kamloops, B.C. where she hopes for a baby and an education. Travelling to the Philippines and following the relationship as it evolves, Butler begins to wonder who is conning whom.
