[edit] Information

Minnie Stephenson visits Senegal to report on the young female surfers trying to smash traditional stereotypes as they fight to get their surf school recognised. The predominantly Muslim state takes a conservative view on the role of women and Stephenson hears about the obstacles facing young women who are trying to take up a traditionally male sport, with physical intimidation by male surfers and opposition from their families common. Minnie also meets the influential political figures who believe women should be at home or working in administrative roles, arguing that female empowerment encourages debauchery in the young.
