Join Zay Harding in this Globe Trekker Special as he travels across Northern France and Belgium, visiting key World War I locations on the Western Front. Zay's journey begins in the town of Meaux, 25 miles from Paris. He then travels to the illuminating Confrecourt quarries, where French troops took shelter as battles raged on above them. He then visits some of the most significant battle sites of the Great War, including Verdun and Fromelles. Outside of Paris, he witnesses an exhilarating air show featuring World War I planes. Finally, at Mons in Belgium, Zay visits the poignant St. Symphorien cemetery, where some of the last of the 10 million soldiers to die in the war are buried. Along the Way: - Visit a battlefield along the St. Quentin canal - Discover the newly opened Museum of the Great War - Explore the tunnels beneath the hill of Vauquois, where a monumental battle took place underground - Witness one of WWI's most remarkable relics - a massive intact tank discovered in a field near Cambrai Produced by Pilot Film and TV Productions for Discovery Networks Asia, Travel Channel International, Voyage and American Public Television
