[edit] Information

Heavens Above details people's fascination and how they marveled and continue to be inspired by the heavens. Questions of why, how and want they believed and how we now view these self-same cycles are explored. Since the dawn of time, our ancestors have looked at the skies with awe and wonder, reading meaning into what they saw. Melding graphic constructions and location material, fantastic celestial alignments are revealed in Stonehenge, in Ireland's ancient New Grange, in the Pyramids and at Chichen Itsa in Mexico. The program is littered with "fancy that " anecdotes about the cosmic basis for the history of the calender, and the daily cycles ('moon' day, 'sun' day, and 'Saturn' day), 'moonthy' cycles and annual cycles. Specially shot material of the 1996 total eclipse of the sun in India introduces ancient beliefs about solar and lunar eclipses. The show begins and ends firmly in our modern world. Modern doom mongers astrology, both have roots firmly in ancient history.
