[edit] Information

A selection of films nominated for the prestigious 2023 Iris Prize for Best British Short. Each explores the idea that conflict can be closer to home than people think. In director Sophie Austin's Just Passing, a chance encounter helps a woman come to terms with her roots. In Thomas May Bailey's The Talent, the glamorous world of advertising is the backdrop for a meditation on masculinity and desire. Caleb J Roberts' Malcolm explores couples counselling with a twist following an emotionally abusive relationship. Realness with a Twist, from Cass Kaur Virdee, depicts a battle between identity and the approval of a team-mate. Betty & Jean, from Elinor Randle, explores an ache for a love that could have been. Finally, in Daniel Daniel's Bleach, a spiral of shame, guilt and Grindr leads to tragedy.
