A collection of programmes presented by John Betjeman from the BBC iPlayer. 1 - Summoned by Bells First transmitted in 1976, to celebrate the Poet Laureate's 70th birthday, Sir John Betjeman recalls in vivid detail the agonies and the delights of growing up. 2 - A Passion for Churches First transmitted in 1974, Sir John Betjeman visits and explains the architecture of various churches in the Diocese of Norwich. 3 - Birds Eye View: The Englishman's Home First transmitted in 1969, British mansions, castles, houses and gardens through the centuries are viewed from a helicopter, with commentary by Sir John Betjeman. 4 - Monitor: A Poet in London First transmitted in 1959, John Betjeman is filmed at different London locations introducing and reciting four of his poems. 5 - Birds Eye View: Beside the Seaside First transmitted in 1969, Bird's Eye View traces the origins of the British seaside holiday, said to lie with King George III. 6 - Contrasts: Marble Arch to Edgware First transmitted in 1968, John Betjeman takes a journey from Marble Arch to Edgware talking about buildings of interest and reciting four specially written poems along the way. 7 - Let's Imagine: A Branch Line Railway First transmitted in 1963, John Betjeman examines the Evercreech Junction to Burnham-on-Sea railway in Somerset, providing a unique profile of a working steam branch line railway. 8 - In View: Men of Steam First transmitted in 1962, John Betjeman presents a documentary exploring the impact of the removal of steam locomotives from British railway services on the local workforce.
