[edit] Information

"Mariupol. Chronicles of Hell" is a story about life in the city from the first days of the war until the beginning of April. The idea to make this film occurred when the first people started leaving the blockaded city in mid -March. We just talked to the operator and went to Zaporozhye, where the sets of vehicles were arriving, to hear for ourselves what was happening in Mariupol. These stories are hard to listen to, but necessary, ”the director said. The heroes of the film are: Mariupol journalists Nadezhda Sukhorukova, Nikolay Osichenko and Max Grabovsky; volunteer Ekaterina Yerskaya; Yevgeny Tuzov, commander of the largest storage facility in Mariupol at the Terra Sport sports complex; the family of the late photographer Viktor Dedov and others. Among the heroes of the film are those who managed to survive the bombing of the Mariupol Drama Theater and witnesses to the events in the shelled and destroyed maternity hospital. People whose relatives were forcibly deported to Russia and those who nearly died in the shelling during the evacuation from the city. It is the first Ukrainian feature-length documentary to come out of the 2022 Russian-Ukrainian war.
