[edit] Information

In this specially created episode from the TV series "Penguin Safari with Nigel Marven", the star of "Prehistoric Park" takes an up close and personal look at the royals of the species, the King penguin.

Living amongst the colony of 200,000 King penguins near the Antarctic ice-cap and during 40 days of live-action filming, Nigel explores the real-life drama and experiences the day-to-day soap opera of their lives. He also witnesses extraordinary sights from the other main inhabitants of this area - the 6,000 Southern Elephant seals. This week-long series was filmed over forty days during October and November, the Antarctic spring, amongst the spectacular wildlife and jaw-dropping scenery of the island of South Georgia. I became friendly with the penguin stars and a supporting cast of other animal characters, as they spent the short spring courting, breeding, laying eggs, bickering and eventually feeding their newborn babies!
