[edit] Information

One Beach. One Chance. One Mission. Just after midnight on June 6, 1944, 160,000 Allied troops crossed the English Channel to launch the largest seaborne invasion in history. Their mission: to break through the coastal defenses of Hitler's "Fortress Europe" and establish a western front. STORMING JUNO follows the stories of three young soldiers, who against incredible odds, secured a beachhead on D-Day and helped to change the course of the war. The 90-minute film is a riveting and harrowing retelling of the opening hours of the largest seaborne invasion in history - D-Day. It follows the stories of three Canadians who are amongst the very first Allied soldiers to go into combat: Paratrooper Cpl. Dan Hartigan, who dropped behind enemy lines the night before the invasion, Lt. Bill Grayson of the Regina Rifles as he and his men fought their way off the beach, and Sgt. Leo Gariepy, who commanded the only one of 19 tanks to complete its mission as the invasion of Normandy began. The individual stories are interwoven to provide viewers with a real-time experience of the day - from the Channel crossing, to the landing, into the heart of battle. Based on actual events, journals and eyewitness accounts. Originally broadcast by History Television in 2010. Directed by Tim Wolochatiuk ; Entertainment One Film in association with Windup Filmworks, The Historica-Dominion Institute and Shaw Media
