Santa Claus is the undisputed King of Christmas and no-one can compete with the jovial, white-bearded figure dressed in red, for international recognition. But what is most remarkable, is that he got here at all. This Christmas, John Sergeant investigates the greatest story never told – the story of Santa Claus. Beginning with an obscure bishop from Turkey, John uncovers how he gradually became the Father Christmas we know and love. The story of Santa includes Christian relics, myths, reindeer, chimneys and chocolate coins.
