[edit] Information

When he flew in his model XI monoplane from the French coast to the mountaintops of Dover, England in 1909, French pilot Louis Bleriot became the first person to fly ... Full Descriptionlong-distance over water and cross a national boundary. While it was this accomplishment that made Bleriot a legend, the years leading up to this flight were just as interesting. A DARING FLIGHT examines these years, in which Bleirot's dedication to his dream of flying had those around him questioning his sanity. This NOVA program also meets up with Bleriot's grandson, who quite literally follows in his grandfather's footsteps by piloting a vintage airplane along the exact route that earned Bleriot a place in history so many years ago.
