[edit] Information

Alaska is a land of superlatives: America's highest mountain, its greatest wilderness, its fiercest and most fascinating animals, its loneliest land. It's a state in which a population smaller than New York City spreads out over an area three times in size of Texas. Touring the length and breadth of this spectacular place is noted zoologist and anthropologist Jeff Corwin, America's ultimate tourist in America's ultimate location. Jeff takes viewers along for an armchair ride from the island-flecked coastline of western Alaska in search of whales to the overgrown wilderness of Kodiak Island where grizzly bears catch their dinner. It's a journey you won't want to miss.

[edit] Denali National Park

Jeff Corwin begins his journey on America's highest mountain, Mount McKinley, and then travels through the 6 million acres of Denali National Park in his search for the ultimate prize, Denali's grizzly bears.

[edit] The Kenai Peninsula

Explore the untold beauty and diverse marine life of the Kenai Peninsula. Jeff negotiates ice-choked bays, battles with monster halibut and encounters breaching whales.

[edit] Bear Country

Journey through Katmai National Park & Preserve, a 4-million acre wilderness and home to the largest population of brown bears in the world, as well as one of the biggest salmon runs on earth.

[edit] To the Ends of the Earth

Travel to the most westerly points in the U.S., a remote island called Attu. Jeff gets close to humpback whales, arctic foxes and enormous bears.

[edit] Alaskan Survivors

Join Jeff as he travels to southeast Alaska in search of the world's largest gathering of Americal bald eagles. Along the way, he does some extreme fishing, encounters 60-foot totem poles and goes cross-country skiing and snowmobiling.

[edit] Mobile Alaska

As fall turns to winter, Jeff travels to the interior of Alaska where temperatures hover around zero. Jeff spends a night outdoors, gets a bird's eye view of the winter scenery and challenges an Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race winner to crazy dog vs. snowmobile race.

[edit] Southeast Alaska and the American Bald Eagle

Jeff continues his journey through the stunning scenery of Alaska, focusing this week on the animals that have survived near-extinction, including the American buffalo, the fur seal, the timber wolf and the killer whale.

[edit] Dogs Sleds and Snowmobiles

In this episode, Jeff travels by both float plane and boat to discover some of the state's most spectacular secrets. He spots a colony of seals gathered at the foot of a glacier, a lovesick moose and a rare pine marten. He also tries to catch one of Kodiak Island's famed giant king salmon.
