And what if you only knew the Mafia secrets because you were born into a Mafia family? This is the gut-wrenching decision six Mafia informants had to make in Discovery's series Mobster Confessions. These men, born into some of the most notorious mobster families in the USA, put their lives on the line for justice after seeing just how brutal this violent world of crime could be. The six-part series features the bone-chilling testimonies of New York, Philadelphia and Las Vegas mobsters who risked their lives to dismantle the Mafia. [edit] John Veasey

A hit man for the Philadelphia mob is targeted by his own Mafia family. After surviving an attempted hit, he testifies against the men he once swore to protect.
John Veasey worked as a hitman for the Mafia in Philadelphia in the 1990s. At that time, a bloody war was raging between the gang bosses on the East Coast, and the American impressed his clients with his exceptional coolness. The notorious "Hitman" doesn't feel sorry for his victims. He grew up on the streets and by the age of 16 already had a long criminal record. One day, however, the brutal gangster's arrogance becomes his undoing. He falls out of favor with his godfathers and suddenly becomes the hunted himself. When Veasey learns that his companions want to kill him, he sees only one way out: he contacts the FBI in order to save his life. This documentary reconstructs the case based on police reports and statements by former mafia members.

[edit] Andrew DiDonato

A New York thug is seduced by the power of the Gambino crime family. But when they turn on him, he must choose between being hunted by the Mob or working with the authorities.
The "Cosa Nostra" and its cold-blooded machinations exerted an extreme attraction on many young people in New York in the 80s. One of them was 17-year-old Andrew DiDonato. At that time he earns his money as a small street gangster and dreams of being included in the elite circle of the mafia. These criminals are his great role models, to whom he has the utmost respect. In order to belong to their sworn community, he is also willing to kill. And it doesn't take long for DiDonato to get his chance. His ice-cold and fearless personality gives him a great reputation in the criminal unit, but then there is a sudden rupture. When Andrew DiDonato puts his own interests ahead of "family's," he breaks an unwritten rule of the organization.
From now on he is not only hunted by the FBI, but also by his former mafia friends. This documentary reconstructs the case using police reports and statements from former Cosa Nostra members.

[edit] Frank Cullotta

Enticed by the riches of life in Las Vegas, one man is willing to do anything for the Chicago Mob, until the FBI warns him that he is about to be murdered by his own Mafia family.
Frank Cullotta works for the notorious "Chicago Outfit" - one of the most ruthless mafia gangs of all time - and follows his boss and childhood friend Tony "The Ant" Spilotro to Las Vegas in the 70s, where the organization controls several casinos. The two mafia goodfellas earn huge sums of money there with receiving stolen goods, gambling and extortion. But when Cullotta starts working for himself, he quickly falls out of favor with his gangster buddies. When he is also arrested by the police during a failed raid, his situation deteriorates dramatically: in prison, Cullotta is an easy victim for former mafia colleagues who ended up in jail like him. The cold-blooded killer has to make a decision: either he works with the FBI or his life isn't worth a damn anymore.

[edit] Frank Calabrese Jr

A son, desperate to escape the grip of his brutal mafia father, faces a difficult decision: turn on his own dad or be forced to continue a life of crime.
Frank Calabrese Jr. was born into the mafia. His father was a respected member of the legendary "Chicago Outfit", one of the most dangerous criminal organizations in America: Frank "The Breeze" Calabrese earned his money with dirty loans, murder and manslaughter. And he always wanted his son to follow in his footsteps and spread just as much terror as he himself. In doing so, the gangster actually broke a golden rule of the syndicate that says: Never involve your family in the business! But that didn't interest the ice-cold killer very much- - just as little as the views of his offspring: if the junior didn't feel like it, daddy's wishes were just drummed into him. Until the day Frank Calabrese Jr. has to make a decision.

[edit] Bill Cutolo Jr

A son who idolises his mobster dad seeks revenge on his mafia friends when his father goes missing.
Bill Cutolo Jr. wanted to be like his famous father since he was a teenager. "Wild Bill Senior" made headlines in the 80s as a respected member of the New York "Colombo family" and thus became an involuntary role model for his son. Because actually the wiseguy father wants a completely different life for his offspring: the junior should go to college and stay away from the syndicate. But Bill is so drawn to the mafia that he ignores his father's admonitions and tries to follow in his footsteps. It's only when his dad is killed in a power struggle within the organization that Cutolo Junior realizes how dangerous the game he has gotten himself into can end up being.

[edit] 'Big Ron' Revite

A crooked policeman turned mob informant whose only motivation is money risks his life to help dismantle the Philadelphia mob.
"Big Ron" Previte never had anything to do with the term morality – the criminal was only ever interested in one thing: money. His great role models of the 1950s are the mafia godfathers in his hometown of Philadelphia, who drive around in big Cadillacs with big cigars. But it will still be a few years before the American with Sicilian roots will work for the syndicate. Meanwhile, Ronald Previte - very unusual for a gangster - joins the competition and becomes a police officer. But only to get money as easily as possible with corrupt machinations. And this premise runs like a red thread through his criminal life. Because his own advantage is always more important to Big Ron than the centuries-old laws of the Mafia.
