[edit] Information

On orders from her Nazi master the most powerful war machine on the face of the earth was loose in the Atlantic. The British couldn´t find her but they knew she wielded fire power that could single handedly crush their war effort. Built in secrecy she was a magnificent achievement of German technology whose focus was fear and mass destruction. She was the battleship Bismarck. Surprisingly her life span was that of a butterfly, just over a week. But that was enough for her to sink her dragon's teeth into the pride of the British fleet and blast her into eternity. This terror of the sea had to be destroyed. SINK THE BISMARCK meticulously documents the greatest sea chase in history, as seen through the eyes of the men who lived it. At over 52,000 tons, capable of moving 30 knots and armed with the biggest, most advanced guns ever put to sea, the Bismarck was the largest and most deadly battleship ever built. Her discovery by a reconnaissance plane off Norway started one of the most dramatic stories of WWII. For four days, the British Navy devoted every resource to destroying the German monster. The epic pursuit is revisited here through extensive newsreel and military footage and the words of those who were there - including the highest-ranking surviving officer of the Bismarck and the only American military man who participated in this epic event. From her annihilation of the battleship Hood in mere minutes, across 2,000 miles of ocean to her agonizing death, this is the story of the all-out race to SINK THE BISMARCK! Produced and Directed by Robert Kirk ; A Greystone Communications, Inc. Production for The A&E Network
